the forty rules of love - elif shafak“I don’t want to tell you the details of the story, I’ll keep them for you to find out! It links the life of a person from the 14th century to a person from our time. The story is very interesting. It’s not a love story. It’s about the liberty you develop with age. There is a twist which turns someone from very ordinary to an extremely unpredictable personality.

Even more interesting for me, the person described from the 14th century is Iraqi. Most of the events, from that part of the story, happen in Baghdad. The author is Turkish, so having her know all about that is amazing. It is based on a true story. It’s incredible – I absolutely recommend it.”

Set primarily in 14th century Turkey and Iraq, and modern day Massachusetts, USA.
