Despite being set in the UK, and not all that long ago, this was otherworldly. An unsettling and deceptively complex account of a gruesome triple-murder, presented as a patchwork of conflicting sources relating to the crime. Lyrical and engrossing, it’s more than deserving of the hype it received after its Booker Prize shortlisting last year. A Jekyll and Hyde for the Scottish Highlands.
Set in the Highlands of Scotland in the 1860s.
