Intense, magical, fleeting. Carlos Fuentes’ short story Aura touched my every sense at a point in my life when I felt my most disillusioned and disconnected. Master of his craft and genre (magical realism), the author does not simply invite you to observe events. Instead, he makes you implicit in his supernatural tale. It’s an enthralling adventure which zig-zags between worlds and their histories to create a beautifully decrepit tapestry of lives and loves intertwined.
